Fall Attractions for Families and Adults in Salem

Fall has arrived in the Mid-Willamette Valley and with it several Halloween themed activities. 

The Salem area has a few options within a short drive of the city listed below:

E.Z. Orchards (5504 Hazelgreen Rd. NE, Salem)

Harvestfest 2024 is running from September 28th-October 30th. Activities include Hayrides, Pumpkin Patch, Petting Zoo, Corn Maze, Cider & Donuts. On weekends there will be live music and horse rides. Weekend admission is $12 per person and weekday admission is $5 per person from 9 AM-1 PM (no hayrides) and $7 per person from 1-6 PM (hayrides available).

E.Z. Orchards also has a farm store and sells their own preserves, syrup, apple butter, donuts, ciders (non-alcoholic) and cidres (alcoholic).

Fordyce Farm (7023 Sunnyview Rd NE, Salem)

Fall Fest at Fordyce Farm features a plethora of activities throughout the week for Free! Weekday activities include a Hay Fort, Indoor Hay Maze, Playground, Corn Maze ($5.25 age 6+, 5 & under Free), Farm Store, Pumpkin Patch and U-Pick Apples. In addition to the above activities, weekends also include a Corn Cannon ($2 for 3 shots), Food and Beer Truck, Hay Rides and a Haunted Corn Maze ($16 per person, starting on October 11). 

Family Nights in the Corn Maze will also give small kids an opportunity to experience the maze at night without monsters. October 10th, 17th and 24th will all be open until 9 PM for Family Night.

Heiser Farms Pumpkin Patch (21425 SE Grand Island Loop, Dayton)

Heiser Farms is located just outside of Salem in Dayton and offers weekend fall activities for families. Admission to the Pumpkin Patch is $8 per person (under 2 free). Attractions include a Hay Maze ($4 per person), Corn Maze at the Pumpkin Patch ($4 per person), Fire Engine Rides ($4 per person), Grand Island Railroad ($4 per person), Fire a Pumpkin Cannon ($10 donated to Breast Cancer Support). Free activities include a Petting Zoo, Pedal Tractors, Water Ducky Races, Hat Pyramid and Slide, Farmerville and Hay Rides. Dogs are welcome, but they must be leashed and well behaved.

Powerland Heritage Park (3995 Brooklake Rd. NE Salem)

Powerland Halloween is a non-scary fun and interactive Halloween adventure for families and kids. The event will take place the last three weekends in October (Oct. 12th/13th, Oct. 19th/20th and Oct. 26th/27th) from 10 AM-4 PM. Cost will be $18 for adults and $14 for kids and includes the Saving Neverland Adventure, a pumpkin to decorate, a Kids’ Activity Center and a wagon being pulled by a Steam Traction Engine as you hunt for skeletons at the park. 

The Nightmare Factory (999 Locust St. NE, Salem)

The annual attraction is a huge school fundraiser for the Oregon School for the Deaf. The actors of the haunted house are students and staff of the school with the event taking place on campus. The haunted attraction has been serving the community since 1987 with general admission tickets costing $20. They’ll be open on weekends beginning on October 4th as well as October 30th-November 2nd. 

Mill Creek Haunted Prison (5465 Turner Rd. SE, Salem)

The newest attraction is at the former Mill Creek Penitentiary. The defunct prison closed in 2021 and has been transformed into a haunted prison for those willing to brave the scary hallways. Tormented Illusions are the creators of this haunt as they have 10,000+ square feet of scares in Southeast Salem. The haunted prison will be open on weekends beginning October 4th as well as October 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st. Ticket prices vary from $15-30.
