CATO Media Company is an independent media and marketing firm building the business voice of the Pacific Northwest — city by city, story by story.
THE STORY OF CATO
In 46 BC, a Roman senator named Cato the Younger chose death over submission to Caesar's corrupt rule. He was Rome's last honest man — incorruptible in a world that ran entirely on corruption and backroom deals. He refused to compromise. He refused to be bought. And he died for it.
His name lived on. In 1720, two British journalists published Cato's Letters — a series of essays calling out government corruption, written under his name. Those letters became the most quoted writing on the bookshelves of America's founding fathers. Half of all private libraries in colonial America had a copy. Ten days after the U.S. Constitution was signed, an anonymous journalist signed his first op-ed 'Cato' — launching the public debate that gave us the Bill of Rights.
For over two thousand years, the name Cato has meant the same thing: truth, standards, and the courage to say what others won't.
Today, the information age has Rome's same problem. Anyone can publish anything. Algorithms reward noise over quality. Every platform has a million mediocre voices. The loudest wins — not the most credible.
CATO Media Company was built as the antidote to that. Our critics are hand-selected. Our creators earn their way in. Our journalism serves the community, not the algorithm. We don't let everyone in — because quality requires standards.
This is not for everyone. It's for the Shakers, Movers, and Eaters who want the best.
