Guide privacy
Saved places are stored in your browser. They are not synced to your CATO account, and clearing browser storage removes them.
When you view a Salem listing, CATO requests current information about that business from Google Maps. Optional photos are loaded when requested. Google photos and contributor avatars may contact Google services; interactive maps also use Google services in your browser. CATO does not send your account name or email in these listing-information requests.
Close to Me
When you choose Close to Me, your browser asks for location permission. Precise coordinates are used only in memory on your device to sort nearby places; they are not saved in URLs, browser storage, or CATO records. Reloading the page or choosing Stop using my location clears them.
A separate, optional checkbox lets you share an approximate area with CATO for audience insights. Coordinates are rounded to 0.1 degrees (roughly a 7-mile area), stored without your account, name, IP address or persistent visitor identifier, and removed after 90 days. Global Privacy Control and Keep analytics off prevent this sharing.
Corrections you submit are stored for CATO administrators to review. Please include only the information needed to correct a public listing, without sensitive personal details.
Yelp review embeds
Adam’s Rib Smoke House has an optional official Yelp review widget. It loads only after you choose Load Yelp review. Loading it connects your browser to Yelp, which may receive your IP address, browser information and the embed’s CATO address, and may use cookies under the Yelp Privacy Policy. CATO does not include your account name or email in the embed or copy its review text into our database. You can instead follow the View on Yelp link without loading the widget.
