Burgerville restaurants will be making their triumphant return to the Salem area when two locations are expected to open in the fall of 2024. The two locations will replace the former Sonic restaurants at 220 Lancaster Drive SE in Salem and 3775 River Road N in Keizer.

“Burgerville has looked at many locations throughout the Pacific Northwest,” Burgerville CEO Ed Casey said. “We have identified Salem and Keizer as a great place to expand into as the strong community ties resonate with our values. Since the closure of the Burgerville in Salem over 20 years ago, the Salem community has made it known they want Burgerville to come back so we are excited to be rejoining the Salem community.”

The Salem community had a Burgerville in the past, which was open until 1992. That restaurant closed after a freeway expansion project. The company wanted to make a return to the community, but just had to find the right locations. “We look for locations that receive good traffic, have a drive-thru and are easily accessible,” Casey said.  Burgerville recently opened a location in Wilsonville and plans on opening several new restaurants in the Pacific Northwest.

“There are several locations expected in the new year,” Casey said. “We are committed to the Pacific Northwest with each new location. Burgerville aims to create a welcoming atmosphere where customers can come together and enjoy signature burgers, shakes, fries, and other local seasonal menu items. The company is proud to be providing new jobs as well as opportunities for sponsorships and fundraising programs.”

The goal for the company is to continue to expand strategically and offer an upgraded experience for fast food lovers. Each location will feature enhanced options for the customer.

“Each new location will feature digital menu boards and the option for self-service kiosk ordering experience, and the same signature menu items available at all current locations,” Casey said. “The look and feel of the new locations will be modern with upgraded features.”

The original Burgerville was founded in 1961 in Vancouver, Washington. They offer Pacific Northwest local ingredients including Tillamook Cheddar Cheese, Walla Walla onion rings and local range-fed beef. Previously, the nearest Burgerville location to Salem was in Monmouth.

They currently have 39 restaurants in Southwest Washington and the company recently partnered with a local group of investors, further pushing the growth of the company through expansion. “The new investor group has deep ties to the Pacific Northwest and is committed to Burgerville’s mission of sustainability and premium quality,” Casey said. “Their commitment to the company and its values will ensure that Burgerville will remain the local, community-focused favorite that it’s always been.”
