US Market, a nationwide convenience store network, has moved into a spacious new headquarters on Lancaster Drive, marking a significant milestone in its commercial growth. It’s an upgrade of more than 6,000 sq. ft. Leadership says this is only the beginning.

Founded as a single convenience store in Silverton, Oregon, in 1998, Lal and Don Sidhu have transformed US Market into a five-state enterprise, providing quality service and affordable products nationwide.

The recent move from a 1,300 sq. ft. headquarters to a 7,500 sq. ft. commercial residence at 1311 Lancaster Dr. NE will allow the company to continue expanding and achieving even bigger goals.

The building on Lancaster had sat vacant for years, but US Market had its eye on it for quite some time. Joshua Kay, manager and broker at First Commercial Real Estate, played a key role in securing the deal.

“We needed more space,” said Amar Sidhu, director of operations at US Market. “We want to grow our team as we’re growing our brand.” And they are growing.

US Market plans to bring services like architecture, design, marketing, and public relations in-house to bolster its expansion efforts. The new headquarters offers vital improvements, such as a 25-person board room and 10 new offices to replace the three at their previous location.

In line with its growth, US Market has begun branching out into merchandise. They recently launched a line of bottled water to accompany the apparel already sold at various locations. Salty snacks are next in the production line.

Inspired by other convenience stores in the South, another goal is introducing food service to select locations. They are currently developing partnerships with a local kitchen, hoping to launch this service in Salem first.

US Market continues to expand locations across the nation, with 10 new sites set for construction this year and a handful of acquisitions. The new sites feature a US Market convenience store with Space Age gas, a partnership that enables them to bring affordable prices and quality gas to customers. Sidhu says they have a knack for keeping prices low.

With continued expansions, the need for employees grows as well. They hope to open four to six new locations in Salem next year, each accommodating at least 10 employees. The larger headquarters allows them to expand their administrative team, opening several new positions.

Leadership at US Market says the legacy they leave is what’s most important. “We’re not really running after the money,” Sidhu said. “It’s our passion. We love what we do.”

They facilitate a yearly golf tournament to raise money for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, Ore., last year generating around $150,000. This year, they are on track to surpass that number.

Whether it’s raising money for charity, creating local jobs, or producing a line of snacks, US Market’s new headquarters enables them to expand their contributions to communities across the nation.
