BestMed Urgent Care opened its new Salem clinic on Commercial with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 24th, continuing a legacy of quality treatment that began in 2008 just 50 miles south.

The clinic offers a wide variety of treatments for non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries, from a broken arm to allergic reactions and more. It is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day, and walk-ins are welcome.

Urgent care clinics are proving to be more of a necessity in a world of six-hour ER visits and general physicians being booked out for months.

Our urgent care clinics provide the medical attention people need, when they need it—filling the gap between emergency care for life-threatening issues and routine care that can wait for an appointment with your regular medical provider,” said Dan Surdam, chief medical officer of BestMed’s management partner, Community Care Partners.

The Urgent Care Association estimated in 2023 that urgent care clinics prevent around 24.5 million ER visits every year, easing the burden on emergency medical professionals and the client’s wallet.

This clinic is fully equipped with X-ray, EKG, and PCR testing equipment for providing patients with thorough and efficient service. It will even fill some prescriptions in-house.

The Salem clinic is BestMed’s 24th urgent care facility in the state, with 15 in other parts of the U.S. “Opening in Salem feels like a homecoming,” said Jim Ashby, CEO of Community Care Partners. “We are very proud to be in our home-state capital and are excited to serve the community.

But what makes them different from the numerous other providers in Salem? “Our service mentality,” said Surdam. “Our staff and providers genuinely care about their neighbors and want to help people feel better as quickly as possible.

The organization was born from the principle of neighborly service and is excited to offer that to the Salem community.
