Salem, Ore. –Ideal Option, a premier provider of evidence-based outpatient treatment for addiction to substances such as fentanyl, heroin, methamphetamine, alcohol, and polysubstance, has opened its doors to new patients in West Salem. Patients will have access to evidence-based medication-assisted treatment from a specialist in addiction medicine on-site.

A 2022 report by the Oregon Health Authority revealed that in 2021, fentanyl and methamphetamine were the leading drugs involved in unintentional and undetermined overdose deaths in Oregon. Sadly, only 5.8% of those who died from drug overdoses were receiving current treatment for substance use disorder and only 4.6% had received treatment in the past. Ideal Option’s 2022 Annual Patient Outcomes Report for Oregon indicates a rise in fentanyl positive rates at enrollment, with 62% of patients testing positive for multiple substances, including 30% testing positive for 3 or more substances. The report also shows positive outcomes for patients who continued treatment with Ideal Option, as indicated by urine drug testing results. Among patients who remained in treatment with Ideal Option during 2022, urine drug testing shows:

  • 97% less fentanyl use
  • 88% less methamphetamine use
  • 85% less total opioid use
  • 96% less heroin use
  • 62% less benzodiazepine use

The newly established clinic, located in Salem, represents the second location for Ideal Option. This expansion arrives at a crucial moment as there is an imperative demand for increased access to treatment services that are grounded in evidence and provided by seasoned healthcare providers. Ideal Option, a specialist in addiction medicine, has been utilizing buprenorphine-based medications such as Suboxone® for over a decade, with an extensive network of 86 clinics across 11 states.

“We are eager to provide our treatment services in West Salem and look forward to the long-term benefit for the population we serve,” said Rachel Overall, peer outreach specialist at Ideal Option. “I am responsible for outreach and peer support in both Polk and Marion Counties and am excited to have a location closer to home for individuals who live on the other side of the river.”

The new Ideal Option clinic in West Salem is open Monday – Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. and is located at 675 Orchard Heights Rd NW, Ste. 180, Salem, OR 97304.
